About my Indian Art...

I was taught to draw at an early age by my father, a watercolour artist and advertising creative. During this time, I was also taught to dance by my mother, a choreographer and director. Creativity and artistic expression has always been my passion having been inspired by artists such as Rauschenberg, Kahlo, Hopper and Breugel and dancers such as Ruby Keeler, Gene Kelly, Sylvie Guillem, Nureyev and Baryshnikov.

Following several trips to India, I started to experiment with collage and collating images that had a profound impact whether iconic, conceptual or stylistic. I was overwhelmed with the variety of images, powerful and explosive, in India from advertising, devotional, political propaganda to celebrity pin ups and lifestyle scenes. The images portrayed gave such a rich insight into the psyche of a nation on many levels and interactions, official and private.

“I am an avid observer of life, my work is created from the rich and insightful images I see all around me.”
